Going Postal

First solo trip by tf-oto

Well, fortunately Mia didn't go postal, but we did go to the post office this morning.  Believe it or not, this was the first time that baby and Daddy have run an errand solo.  Lots of firsts these days, and I was just a bit terrified when I left the house for a 3 minute car ride.  Naturally, there was a line of patrons at least eight deep when we got there, with only two windows open.  She started to cry after a few minutes, and when the binky didn't pacify, it was time for the bottle neatly tucked in my coat pocket.  That kept her at bay until I got to the counter, and packed up and mailed my package.  I grew a bit frustrated when the counter gal ran it as a two-day instead of the overnight I asked for, so it took twice as long as I hoped.  Nervously peeking down at Mia, I noticed she continued to graze lazily on the ounce I gave her, bottle propped up with the stroller blankie.  What a good girl ...

Oh, and Happy 8 Week Birthday Mia!

First Cold

Snot by tf-oto

Mia had her first cold last week - a stuffed up nose which made breathing a little tough on her.  I think she must have caught it from Daddy's kisses, as I was sick the week prior.  But between using the nasal aspirator (pictured above after a successful extraction), running a warm mist humidifier night and day, elevating her head, and Daddy sleeping with her in the living room, she's pretty much all better.  Now she just has the "crusty booger" residue that will work its way out eventually.  Don't worry, I won't take a picture of that.  Of course, now Mommy is getting a cold ....

Catching Up

Mia's first band-aid, from her HepB shot yesterday.  I think it actually hurt us more than it did her.

Doc says she's developing nicely.  Apparently this move is quite a big step.  Look who can lift her big fat melon like a big girl!

Mia actually likes bath time now.  The first couple were pretty rough, but once Mommy and Daddy figured out to wet the little sink chair with warm water before placing her in it ... all is well.

Believe it or not, it's almost been six weeks since Mia was born.  Seems like just yesterday we were painting the nursery, opening shower gifts, and counting the days down.  Jackie heads back to work on Monday, and the reality of my new full-time gig is staring me in the face.  I'm not nearly as freaked out about it as I was in December, as I have now diapered and fed a baby for the first time.  And the hundredth time as well.
